Over the last 5 years, we have worked closely with Skills Training as a subcontractor to deliver accredited training and examinations for the Level 2 NDT Operator, Level 3 NDT Technician and Level 6 Degree apprenticeship schemes. The apprenticeship route has opened doors for countless individuals embarking on a rewarding career in NDT and provided an opportunity for current employees to upskill and progress in their careers.
Given the recent changes, we understand that many employers and learners may be feeling uncertain about the future of the apprenticeship schemes. We want to assure everyone that we are committed to supporting as many learners as we can who are currently on programme. Our dedicated team is here to guide you through the next steps to ensure a smooth transition during this period of change.
Switching Apprenticeship Providers
For employers who have apprentices registered with Skills Training on the Level 2 NDT Operator and Level 3 NDT Engineering Technician programmes, transferring to another main provider is possible if they deliver the same apprenticeship standard.
As we are a main apprenticeship provider, we are conducting thorough assessments on a case-by-case basis for learners seeking to switch providers. Factors such as the apprentice’s start date, the amount of training completed by Skills Training UK and the remaining time left to reach the End Point Assessment will be taken into consideration. Our goal is to ensure minimal disruption to the apprentice’s educational journey.

Support for Level 6 NDT Engineer Apprentices
Our contract with Skills Training to deliver the NDT certification training for the Level 6 programme, ended when Skills Training UK ceased trading. As a result, this will directly impact apprentices enrolled in the programme, particularly those scheduled to undertake NDT courses with us as an integral part of their degree curriculum.
We are proactively engaging with the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) to explore ways to support learners registered with Skills Training UK on the Level 6 NDT Engineer apprenticeship.
