Applus UK Ltd are now looking to recruit an Aerospace Technician Apprentice. 

This apprenticeship programme is to support and learn from qualified technicians in performing in-service and pre-service Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and inspections on aerospace and industrial components. This includes applying appropriate test methods in line with client requirements, contractual obligations, and Applus UK Ltd. operational procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Self-motivated team player with strong problem-solving skills.

  • Practical, well-organised, positive, and able to work collaboratively or independently.

  • Minimum of three GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including English and Maths.

  • Ability to meet the vision requirements necessary for the mandatory NDT eyesight test (with or without visual aids).

Desirable:

  • A full, current driving licence or actively working towards obtaining one.

What you’ll do at work

As an Apprentice Aerospace NDT Technician, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    • Assisting qualified technicians with NDT and inspection activities across aerospace and industrial components, using approved techniques. Primary methods include ultrasonic and bond testing of metallic and composite components; additional methods include:

      • Magnetic Particle Testing

      • Dye Penetrant Testing

      • Radiography

    • Supporting technicians in the inspection of incoming materials and equipment prior to use.

    • Learning and understanding current company, client, and legislative requirements relevant to NDT, and performing all work in full compliance with these standards.

    • Following all company and site-specific health and safety procedures.

    • Learning how to maintain NDT equipment, ensuring it remains in good working order and that scheduled checks are completed.

Hours of work

Monday – Friday 8:00 – 4:45pm, Monday – Thursday, 8:00 – 12:30pm on a Friday.

37.5 hours per week.
