Amy will be running the 26.2 mile course in order to raise money for the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), a charity that funds cutting edge research into understanding a wide variety of cancers and develops new drugs to effectively treat individuals, with the aim of one day finding a cure.
Amy told us: “Over the last few years some of my closest friends and their families have been affected by different forms of cancers, and it is truly heart-breaking to watch them go through such a difficult time.
All you can do is be there and support them the best that you can, but sometimes this doesn’t feel enough and you wish that you could do more to help in some way. I want to put my good health to use by running while I can and raise money in honour of each and every one of them.”
Amy pledged to raise £2000 and to help raise this, she held a cake sale in December 2016 and a Charity Race night in February 2017; which were both supported by Lavender International.
We would like to wish Amy a massive good luck for Sunday! If you would like to sponsor Amy please visit her justgiving page.
