Six students undertaking their PhD research projects at Bristol University recently attended a two-week bespoke training course at our training facilities in Penistone and AMP, UK.
The two-week course ran by tutors Andy, Dave and Howard gave an insight into conventional and advanced NDT methods, including Magnetic Testing, Penetrant Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, Phased Array, Time of Flight Diffraction, Radiography Testing, Eddy Current Testing, and Alternating Current Field Management. The training covered a brief overview of theoretical aspects of each method in addition to gaining some practical experience.
As part of their training, the students were required to complete a task which involved assessing the suitability of a fictional welder for a project and determine the most appropriate NDT method for detecting defects in newly fabricated welds. At the end of the course, the students had to present their findings to a group of Lavender employees, explaining the advantages and disadvantages of each NDT method in addition to the reasons behind their chosen NDT techniques for the task.
At Lavenders, we offer complete flexibility in the way we run our training courses, whether you need a one-day introduction to NDT workshop or bespoke training in-house, all of which can be designed and tailored to your business needs.
