Lavender International has invested in new technology within it’s Gamma Radiography Bay at their training facility in Penistone. The installation of a new GEN 2 Automated Wind-out system with Siemens drive technology, along with a new 880 Elite Projector and associated Windout and accessories has been signed off by an independent Radiation Protection Advisor and is in full use for students on upcoming RT courses.

The main control panels have easy functionality, touch screen features and provides the students with greater control over programming, providing a safer environment and more accurate radiographs.

The bay’s internal features include pull cord grab wire used for emergency stops and the door has autolock functions for safety purposes as mandated by the HSE within the IRR2017 regulations. Tutors and students will be using the new PED’s in the coming weeks to ensure radiation doses can be recorded daily.

The dark room has also been equipped with an automatic processor for film development. This combines all three processes in one rather than students having to manually process individual radiographs. It’s simple and straight forward functions will improve the time for students to produce optimal film image results.

“We are pleased that over the last year we have had a 91% pass rate for students who have undertaken Radiographic Testing examinations and we believe that the new Radiography equipment will greatly improve our training capabilities here at the school.” said Andy Greenwood, Department lead for Radiography.

Level 2 Radiography Testing (including BRS) courses run weekly at the training school with the next course taking place from 11th – 29th October 2021. If you are interested in booking onto one of our courses, contact our team today! E: enquiries@lavender-ndt.com or T: 01226 765769.
