What is WA Industrial Radiographers Safety Licence?
Industrial radiography in Western Australia may only be performed by licensed persons or by approved industrial radiography assistants under the direction and immediate personal supervision of a licensed industrial radiographer. The WA Industrial Radiographers Safety Licence is a qualification that demonstrates that the person holding the qualification has been adequately trained in the hazards associated with ionising radiations, in the precautions to be taken when employing ionising radiation, and in the methods of protection.
What are the responsibilities of an individual who is certified to WA Industrial Radiographers Safety Licence?
WA Industrial Radiographers Safety Licence certification should be held by any person who is practising industrial radiography and is at one of two levels of competence in radiation safety, which the ISO9712 Scheme recognises. AINDT and PCN radiography certificates are only valid if the individual holds valid radiation safety certification recognised by AINDT or BINDT. For initial radiography candidates, the basic radiation safety examination may be taken at the same time as the radiography examination.’
